Pole Dancing World Record

On the 10th September 2006, KT Coates of Vertical Dance Brought together pole dance schools from around the world to set the worlds first pole dance related world record, raising over £20,000 for cancer charities around the world and heightening the profile of pole dancing as a reputable form of dance and fitness.

Schools from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Ireland, Holland, Belgium and many more took part. Over 206 people from 26 locations from around the world were successful in creating this ground breaking Guinness World Record.

KT Coates choreographed a short routine of 10 moves that had to be repeated for 10 minuets. Every person had to have their own pole and there needed to be four or more taking part in each group. Each school had to start at exactly 2pm UK time on the 10th September, this proved difficult for some dedicated schools who had to take part in the early hours of the morning. Each school had to record their performance and send it to vertical dance along with written statements from upstanding members of the  community (doctors, mayors etc) to confirm all of the rules were adhered to. It was a great deal of work to coordinate but all of the schools worked fantastically as a team and we successfully gained a world record certificate!

Many schools managed to get TV and news coverage for their schools and for pole dancing, it was a great day and Vertical Dance proudly hangs their World Record Certificate in pride of place!!!

Thanks to every one that took part in the first and second attempt, and to all those that sponsored us. The two events totalled in over £40,000 raised for charity, not to mention all of the publicity we received for pole dancing. You are all stars!!!
